Seasonal Maintenance Technician I


Position Overview

This position will perform a variety of tasks which include, but are not limited to, mowing, trimming and general park and facility maintenance. Approximately 32-40 hours per week. This position requires availability Spring 2019 thru Fall 2019, Monday thru Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a few evenings and weekends.  Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid state driver’s license.

Job Functions

This position will perform routine manual work consisting of a wide variety of parks maintenance and custodial tasks for the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District. Supervision is received from Park Maintenance Manager and/or Park District Director.

Other Skills/Abilities

·        Strong organizational and communication skills required.

·        Secondary education and/or experience working in park maintenance, landscaping, turf management, or another related field preferred.

Special Conditions

A valid State of Ohio driver’s license is a condition of initial and continued employment in this position. 
This position frequently works in outdoor facilities including forests, fields and creeks and outdoor conditions including the heat within reason.
Some evening and weekend shifts are required of this position.

Position Outcomes: Upon successful completion of this seasonal internship, the candidate will have gained experience in general park district and facility maintenance. The candidate will be afforded the opportunity to network with others in the field and to gain confidence to serve them in future roles.

Part Time Maintenance Technician I


Position Overview

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this part-time position will perform semi-skilled landscaping, construction, maintenance, and repair tasks related to park development and maintenance; maintain park and recreation areas; and do related work as required.

Job Functions

  • This position will perform routine manual work consisting of a wide variety of park maintenance and custodial tasks for the Bellbrook Sugarcreek Park District.
  • Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, mowing, trimming and general park and facility maintenance.
  • This position involves working outside in all weather conditions.

Other Skills/Abilities

  • Strong organizational and communication skills required.
  • General knowledge over the proper use and care of hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Minimum Requirements

  1. High school diploma, or equivalent, required.
  2. Secondary education and/or experience working in park maintenance, landscaping, turf management, or another related field preferred.

  • A valid State of Ohio driver’s license is a condition of initial and continued employment in this position. 
  • Any employment offers are conditional upon completion of pre-employment drug screen, background, and driving record checks.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Program Intern - Unpaid


Position Overview

Reporting to the Program Manager, this position will be responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating and implementation of the Park District’s recreational camps and programs. This position will also assist where needed with naturalist and environmental education programs.

Job Functions

Assists in the development, execution, and evaluation of summer youth camps, naturalist programs, recreation programs, activities, and projects.

Performs representational duties for assigned parks, facilities and programs with community.

Other Skills/Abilities

Positively interact with members of the community of all ages.

Working knowledge of leisure and outdoor recreation techniques, principles, and practices. 

Working knowledge of environmental education techniques, principles, and practices.

This position frequently works in outdoor facilities including forests, fields and creeks and outdoor conditions including the heat within reason.
